Jim Murray, P.E., is the division engineer for the Research Development and Technology (RDT) division, a position he assumed June 1, 1996. The RDT division examines new products, methods and equipment and other aspects of providing a quality transportation system. As the RDT division engineer, Murray is able to focus exclusively on the department's research activities. Mr. Murray, a 38-year department veteran, began his career with MoDOT after receiving a civil engineering degree from the University of Arkansas in 1960. He also received a master's degree in engineering management from the University of Missouri-Rolla in 1976.

Murray has held several positions in Materials, Construction and Maintenance Divisions within the department. He has served in various district offices throughout the state including the St. Louis Metro area, the Northeast District in Hannibal, and most recently as District Engineer in the Southeast District in Sikeston before assuming his current position. Murray is a registered Professional Engineer and a member of the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Highway Engineers Association of Missouri.
