Solana Neighborhood Center - A model for growth without Sprawl
City of Santa Fe, New Mexico

Abstract

The City of Santa Fe would like to take a recent study and develop a five-year implementation plan. This project is the opportunity to demonstrate the land use and transportation link that fosters community interaction in an urban setting. The type of compact development of this neighborhood center will reduce the cost of living and working outside of the downtown area and reduce the urban sprawl that threatens our natural resources and municipal infrastructure. The City is requesting $200,000 to complete the planning and design process, and to implement streetscape improvements including traffic calming. Matching funds will also be devoted to planning and implementing land use changes for the purpose of accomplishing infill on the site.
