The proposed charrette shall look at retrofitting two intersecting suburban corridors, making the area both pedestrian and transit friendly. The charrette is a compliment to a corridor study being undertaken by Saginaw and Kochville Townships to address issues of safety and traffic flow, aesthetics, and land use in the Tittabawassee Road Corridor. The charrette will focus on issues of pedestrian mobility and accessibility, and public transit. The "visioning" and recommendations resultant from the charrette shall provide planning direction to local planning agencies and private enterprises to retrofit the existing auto-dominated environment. A retrofit project of this nature and magnitude requires strong community support to realize the changes that will be necessary to see that any new development in the corridors does not continue to imitate that which we are attempting to fix.
