| The Town of Kalispell, in conjunction with a planned relocation of its Agency on Aging, is using its $348,000 grant to construct a "bus barn" that will house the existing buses which provide transportation to the elderly and other residents of Kalispell. The project will result in improved transit productivity and access for area residents. Currently, the parking of the buses outside the existing old hospital that houses the agency results in maintenance problems for the buses during winter and displaced parking for other vehicles. Construction of the bus barn will facilitate appropriate land use, remove bus parking from a congested location, and increasing transit system productivity for the general public. The project will improve transit access by the system's predominant users, the disabled and elderly from the largely isolated areas of this rural region. Decreased maintenance costs, increased safety, and increased operator productivity will equate to more hours of revenue service in both short and long term operations.
