| The City of Sioux Falls received a $125,000 TCSP grant to link the historical falls of the Big Sioux River with a more active part of the city that includes the downtown area. The grant will illustrate how mediation can be used to gain consensus on a project designed to improve the accessibility and attractiveness of a part of the city that has long been neglected. The city's plans to "bring the falls back to the neighborhood" include creating an attractive ingress and egress and redeveloping a former abandoned railroad shipping yard west of the Falls Park area. These efforts have met with a roadblock which the TCSP grant will address. Specifically, the grant will be used for mediation and facilitation with the landowner of the former shipping yard to enable the land to be publicly purchased and redeveloped.
