FY 2009 Value Engineering Accomplishment Report

The following table compiles the data traditionally collected by the FHWA to summarized successes and achievements in the VE program. As was initiated with the FY 2007 Report, additional information was collected regarding the States' best practices and successful studies completed during the integration of VE in their Federal-aid program.

The FY 2009 report also includes data connecting the recommendations approved through VE studies and implemented VECPs to the benefits provided to the various functions and components of the projects that were studied.

Legend:

  • Return On Investment = Value of Approved Recommendations/Total Cost of VE Studies
  • % of Costs Saved = Value of Approved Recommendations/Estimated Costs of Projects Studied
  • Total Savings Achieved = Value of Approved Recommendations + Value of Approved VE Change Proposals
