DESIGN - Yuvonne
Cantrell
The WV Division is responsible for assuring projects
on the National Highway System (NHS) are developed and engineered
in accordance with applicable design standards and with proper consideration
to cost effectiveness. One of our primary objectives is to ensure
that the design and program delivery processes utilized in West Virginia
deliver highways and bridges that meet the customer’s needs,
add value, enhance the quality of our transportation system, and are
consistent with current laws, regulations, and policies. We are committed
to providing stewardship and oversight of the federal highway program
in West Virginia. The goal of adding value to the program occurs in
every step of the design process from conception of the project through
delivery of the Plans, Specifications, & Estimate (PS&E).
On every project, designers implement a process of decision-making
that balances community/stakeholder interests and right-of-way/environmental
constraints with the controlling design criteria.
