The purpose of this memorandum is to solicit applications for the specific projects designated by Congress in the FY 2003 Omnibus Appropriations Act.

In the conference report to accompany the Omnibus Appropriations Act, Congress designated all of our FY 2003 Discretionary Bridge Program (DBP) funds in the replacement and rehabilitation category. The projects are listed in Attachment 1. The DBP seismic retrofit category funds were not designated and candidates will be solicited in a separate memorandum.

We are requesting that the attached Discretionary Bridge Application Form be fully completed for the project(s) in your State identified in the conference report and submitted to the Office of Bridge Technology electronically prior to April 11. Please note that the April 11 due date is critical. Also, please note that item 20 on the application form requires a one page or shorter narrative briefing. Please do not submit any applications for projects that are not listed in Attachment 1. Details on eligibility requirements can be found in the DBP can be found in the DBP Program Summary on the Internet (https://www.fhwa.dot.gov/bridge).
