Award Fiscal Year 2017
Project Aspect UHPC overlay
Description The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) will replace a structurally deficient bridge using Accelerated Bridge Construction techniques. The entire structure, which includes both the substructure and the superstructure, will be precast concrete components. Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) will be used for beam connections. Additionally, DelDOT will use UHPC as a riding surface overlay on top of the precast beams. The goal is to demonstrate that UHPC can be used as a viable overlay material to construct maintenance free and long lasting bridge decks.
