Description

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) will demonstrate technical and financial efficacy of structural health monitoring (SHM) technology to compliment visual inspection and other information in order to make better management decisions with regard to specific bridges.

The SHM technology will be used on a number of different bridges with various condition issues to demonstrate the efficacy of the system to compliment visual inspection and informing management decisions for each of the bridges studied. This will be a continuation of prior investments SCDOT made in the technology and will influence the decision to implement SHM technology across the SCDOT system.
