Archived: Expert Task Group on Asphalt Mixtures & Construction; Asphalt Binders; and Models Technology

Purpose

The Expert Task Groups (ETGs) on  Asphalt Mixtures and Binder Technology is organized to discuss matters relating to the research and implementation of asphalt mixture and binder technology. The ETG meets two times per year.

Specific areas of activity include:

  • providing technical information interchange on asphalt  issues;
  • identification of potential improvements to mixture, binder and aggregate specifications and standard test methods;
  • identification of research need standards; and
  • government / industry/ academics discussion of emerging issues.

Membership

The members of the Expert Task Groups are selected for their technical expertise in mixture binder and aggregate technology within a framework of professional and geographic diversity. The initial roster includes five engineers employed by state highway agencies, five representatives from the private sector of the highway industry, and five academics.

Meetings

The ETGs are expected to meet twice per year, or as needed in the collective judgment of the membership and the FHWA. Meetings will be open to the public and agendas will be posted at the www.asphaltetgs.org web site.

Independent experts may be invited to attend meeting to participate in the review or discussion of specific research or implementation technology issues. The role of these independent experts will be to provide specialized expertise related to specific projects as a supplement to that of the ETG.

Technical Reports

Documentation and reports resulting from ETG activities will be compiled and distributed to members and any individual upon request prior to each meeting.
