Portland Cement Concrete Testing Manual General Interest: provides practical guidance to engineers responsible for the day-to-day design, construction, rehabilitation, maintenance, and management of pavements.

Primary Topic: Materials-Concrete

Description: This booklet is designed to be a quick reference to items that should be looked at in the field concerning the testing of portland cement concrete. It is meant to give some general background and discuss the significance of the field tests that are performed. The typical values which are indicated in the manual are for reference only and should not be considered as a standard. For convenience, space has been provided at the end of the manual to record the State specification requirements for several classes of concrete. A more in-depth discussion of the test procedures can be found in the "Design and Control of Concrete Mixtures" published by the Portland Cement Association and the "Standard Specifications for Transportation Materials" and "Methods of Sampling and Testing" published by AASHTO.
