The following links utilize tunnel data submitted annually to FHWA by the States, Federal agencies, and Tribal governments in accordance with the National Tunnel Inspection Standards and the Specifications for the National Tunnel Inventory. Each dataset is submitted in the spring, and may be corrected or updated throughout the year. The data for public highway tunnels is considered final and is published on this website by June 15th of each calendar year.
Note: Tunnels that cross a border between two States are included in each State’s inventory, and therefore appear twice in a national count or listing of tunnels.
