The longest stretch of coquina rock outcroppings in the nation are located along the A1A beaches. Within the tidal pools, one may find crabs, small fish, sea stars, and sea snails, among others. Many birds also find the pools provide a great lunch, so it is an exciting bird-watching venue as well. Further south the least terns often nest along the beach. Loggerhead, green and leatherback turtles also nest on the corridor beaches.

The Oceanarium at Marineland was constructed in 1937. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Oceanarium is an example of the "Nautical Moderne" style of architecture. The Oceanarium is currently undergoing revitalization and is emphasizing education and close encounters with the sea animals.

This overlook from the State Road 100 Bridge shows the expanse of the Flagship Harbor Preserve on the left. This preserve has over 3000 feet of boardwalk through the saltwater marsh to the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW). Within the preserve, there are interpretative signs along hiking trails and a picnic pavilion, as well as picnic areas along the trails. One may fish the ICW or hike to the Wickline Center for more active recreational pursuits. In the foreground is Moody Boat Launch, which provides free launch facilities, as well as another fishing pier along the ICW.
