Winchester Bay Wayfinding Point
US 101 Douglas County, Oregon
Designer: | Joe Pavia, Landscape Architect |
Contractor: | Umpqua River Navigation |
Winchester Buy is the Oregon coast's first "Wayfinding Point" on US Highway 101. Here, the area west of the highway was opened up to provide a view of the ocean, a coastal lake and a historic lighthouse. Interpretive panels display valuable information about the scenic, cultural and community attractions within a 80km (50 mile) radius. These displays are developed in cooperation with local communities which depend upon the traveling public for their economic livelihood.
