Archived: Interstate Technical Group on Abandoned Underground Mines (ITGAUM) 7th Biennial Meeting

The 7th Biennial Meeting of the Interstate Technical Group on Abandoned Underground Mines (ITGAUM) will be held in Kansas City, Missouri March 25-27, 2008. The theme for this meeting will be "Mine Planning and Remediation - Foundation for the Future."

The meeting will focus on the effects of mine development on highway planning, design, construction and maintenance as well as other infrastructure development. Related topics pertaining to subsurface exploration and geophysical testing to identify potential hazards associated with underground mines will be addressed. Relevant case histories related to the impacts and remediation of underground mines will be presented. A field trip to see local underground mining practices, associated underground storage facilities, and local mine filling and remediation practices is also scheduled.

Registration

The registration fee for those registering by Monday, March 10, 2008 is $125.00. Late and Walk-In registrants will be charged $150.00. All speakers must pay full registration. The registration fee includes: technical sessions; breaks; Tuesday lunch; Wednesday field trip and lunch; Wednesday banquet; and meeting proceedings. The use of hard hats, steel-toed safety shoes, safety glasses and self-contained self-rescuers will be required for the field trip. Field trip participants must provide their own hard hat, safety shoes, and safety glasses. Field trip participants will be provided with self-contained self-rescuers for the underground portion of the field trip.

Box 270, Jefferson City, MO 65102). All checks must be postmarked by Monday, March 10, 2008 to qualify for the $125 registration fee. Please make checks payable to "2008 ITGAUM Meeting". Credit cards and purchase orders cannot be accepted.

Lodging & Meeting Facilities

The workshop will be held at the Embassy Suites Kansas City - International Airport. The hotel is 5 minutes from the airport and 20 minutes from downtown Kansas City. The hotel provides complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport.

Lodging reservations are the responsibility of each attendee. A block of rooms has been reserved at the Embassy Suites at a special lodging rate of $103 per night for single occupancy or $113 per night for double occupancy.
