The CMAQ program has been reauthorized under every successive Transportation Bill up to and including the FAST Act in 2015. As with its predecessor legislation, the FAST Act provides funding to areas in air quality nonattainment or maintenance for ozone, carbon monoxide, and/or particulate matter. CMAQ project eligibility determinations as well as annual reporting require the development of reliable air quality benefit estimates. The estimated emissions benefits also play a key role in the target setting and performance reporting requirements associated with the CMAQ Emissions Reductions Performance Measure.
The CMAQ Input Data Dictionary provides important details related to various inputs associated with emissions estimation processes for CMAQ project eligibility categories. These details may help projects sponsors and other estimating emissions reductions improve the reliability and validity of emissions benefits results. The Data Dictionary is an optional resource and may or may not include all variations of data relevant to emission estimations processes in general or in particular. Please see the CMAQ Input Data Dictionary Technical Support Document for more information on the development of the dictionary and definitions for each input field.
