The Strategic Plan represents the culmination of a lengthy strategic planning process, which included intensive evaluation of research programs and activities by staff, and input from a wide range of external customers and stakeholders. External input was provided by transportation, planning, and environmental experts from both the public and private sectors. Collectively, they represented national professional organizations; State, regional, and local governments; academic institutions; consulting firms; non-profit organizations; and other Federal agencies. Through the combined efforts of staff, partners, and stakeholders the vision, mission, goals, and objectives of the Environmental Research Program were established.
