Corridor Management Plan

When preparing your application for National Scenic Byways Program (NSBP) funds, it is important to keep in mind that the best applications will simply and succinctly:

  1. Clearly summarize what proposed funding will be spent on.
  2. Clearly establish the project's relationship to the byway and its intrinsic qualities.
  3. Clearly establish the benefit to the byway traveler.
  4. Make a compelling case for why the project should be considered for funding.

These examples should be used in conjunction with the NSBP Grant Information. In particular, you are encouraged to familiarize yourself with both the Principles and Practices for the Corridor Management Plan Category of Eligible Project Activities and the Administrative Criteria used in the consideration of projects for funding under the National Scenic Byways Program.

Other useful information in preparing your grant application can be found in the Grants section.

The NSBP is a discretionary program and funding is awarded at the discretion of the Secretary of Transportation based on the merit of the project advanced and the availability of funding. Modeling your application based on the examples provided is not a guarantee of funding.

The following are both good and less successful examples of various sections of the NSBP grant application submitted under the Corridor Management Plan eligibility category:
