EDC-7 Virtual Summit is Only a Few Weeks Away - Are You Registered?

In only a few weeks, from February 14-16, 2023, transportation leaders, practitioners, and agency representatives from around the country will gather for the EDC-7 virtual summit. At the summit, participants will learn about the seven initiatives featured in this cycle of EDC. Learn more about each of these in the EDC-7 overview video or take a deeper dive by watching the introductory videos for each innovation.

Each day will open with a session featuring keynote speakers including FHWA leadership and innovation champions from the public and private sectors.

Day one's theme is "improving safety for all users," and will feature breakout sessions from the Nighttime Visibility and NextGen TIM teams. Day two will focus on "building sustainable infrastructure," and will highlight speakers from EPDs for Sustainable Project Delivery, Integrating GHG Assessment and Reduction Targets in Transportation Planning, and Enhancing Performance with Internally Cured Concrete (EPIC2). Day three concludes the summit with the theme, "growing an inclusive workforce," where participants will be able to participate in breakout sessions from the Rethinking DBE for Design-Build and Strategic Workforce Development teams.

In addition to the EDC-7 innovation breakout sessions, each day will feature short presentations from State and local agencies on homegrown innovations relating to the day's theme. These short presentations will represent some of the over 100 homegrown innovations that will be hosted in the State Transportation Innovation Council (STIC) Network Showcase. In addition, participants will be able to revisit nearly 250 additional homegrown innovations archived from the 2020 EDC-6 virtual summit.

When not participating in a breakout session, you will be able to browse virtual EDC-7 booths, to take a deeper dive on an innovation of interest. Here, you'll be able to view presentations, fact sheets, videos, and more, or talk with team members during "office hours" to answer specific questions and make connections. Additionally, you may have the opportunity to participate in unique mini-sessions hosted by a team, such as a gameshow hosted by the EPD team (see the online summit agenda for times and dates).

While this sounds like a lot of information to keep track of, the virtual summit has you covered! You will be able to fill a "digital briefcase" with resources and information from the topics of most interest, for easy download at your convenience.

As you browse each day's content and participate in side-activities like the digital scavenger hunt or games, you can earn points toward a daily leaderboard, where each day, the top three point earners will earn a one-hour private meeting with the EDC team of their choice! This will be a great opportunity to ask questions, build a relationship, or to get the ball rolling on an EDC-7 innovation for your agency.
