|Innovation||Prefabricated Bridge Element Systems (PBES)|
|Award Fiscal Year||2014|
|Description||The MMR bridge was designed to incorporate aesthetic enhancements, including enhancements to the bent that will be in the median. The ALDOT engineers saw an opportunity to gain valuable experience designing PBES with the city of Auburn, give contractors experience with larger scale PBES construction, as well as ensure a more controlled environment for the aesthetically enhanced bent elements to be fabricated. It is the intent of ALDOT and the city of Auburn to use this project to educate and familiarize ALDOT personnel, contractors, consultants, county, and city engineers with the technical aspects and benefits of PBES technology.|
