Location Jonesboro, AR

NCACA Northeast Ohio Logo

Award Sub-recipient City of Jonesboro
Innovation Geosynthetic Reinforced Soil-Integrated Bridge System
Award Fiscal Year 2014
Project Aspect Construction
Description

The project consists of the replacement of the bridge (#19077) located on West College Avenue over Christian Creek in Craighead County, Jonesboro, Arkansas. The existing 58' x 21'-8”  3-span concrete channel beam bridge was constructed in 1970.  Decayed timber substructure deficiencies have been identified.

A new structure would meet current safety requirements (wider and meet current bridge rail requirements) and improve hydraulics by eliminating two piers in the channel.  The new structure would meet current design standards and would minimize future maintenance costs by eliminating timber abutment backwalls and intermediate bents.  The replacement structure would be a simple-span, 50' x 40' precast bridge on GRS-IBS abutments.
