  1. What is the purpose of this Notice? This Notice is to advise of the redistribution of FY 2006 obligation authority to the States as provided under Section 1102(d) of the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users, Public Law (Pub. L. No. 109-59) and Section 110(c) of the Department of Transportation Appropriations Act, 2006, Pub. L. No. 109-115.

  2. How much obligation authority is available for redistribution? A total of $2.1 billion of obligation authority is available for redistribution for FY 2006.

  3. How much obligation authority was requested? The States requested a total of $10.9 billion in additional obligation authority for FY 2006.

  4. How is the returned obligation authority redistributed? The attached table shows the redistribution of returned obligation authority to the States. The amounts are to be redistributed in accordance with the requirements of Section 110(e) of the Pub. L. No. 109-115, so that priority will be given to those States having large unobligated balances of funds apportioned under Sections 104 and 144 of Title 23, United States Code.

  5. What action is required? Division Administrators should ensure that this additional obligation authority is obligated no later than September 27, 2006.
