Low-Carbon Transportation Materials Grants Program
State DOT Grant Award Recipients (FY22 Funding)
Project Descriptions: State Departments of Transportation recipients will pursue a series of activities that create new processes to qualify low-carbon transportation materials (LCTM) then put these processes into practice on construction projects that build with LCTM. Grant activities include identifying eligible materials in the State and preparing acceptance and verification procedures for collecting material Environmental Product Declarations. States will outreach and coordinate with industry stakeholders and conduct training on new procedures. States will benchmark the global warming potential of relevant sets of materials and identify thresholds that define LCTM. States will test and evaluate LCTM to ensure performance is satisfactory and adequate for use on Federal-aid construction projects. Specifications for materials and construction may be updated to accommodate new LCTMs and processes on construction projects. States will identify eligible construction projects to implement LCTM and set up monitoring a process after construction is complete. As grant activities proceed the program website will update with additional details.
