FHWA Office of Technical Services
▼FHWA’s Office of Technical Services (OTS) provides technical assistance, training, and technology deployment to transportation agencies nationwide. Its three units–the National Highway Institute (NHI), the Resource Center (RC) and the Knowledge Management (KM) unit–collaborate with all FHWA organizations to serve the agency’s external and internal customers. This site highlights our successes of 2019, and includes stories about how OTS supports agency and department priorities, assists with State transportation projects, and meets the needs of FHWA’s internal workforce.
NHI strives to provide current and relevant training as shown in the updated modules for the Maintenance Leadership Academy Pilot, a web-based Public Involvement Course, and a 3-year investment plan to update training.
In 2019, NHI reinstituted their Instructor of Excellence Award to recognize instructors who continually provide quality instruction and reinforce the value of “learner-oriented” classroom principles.
