How the use of MARC's "Principles of Transit-Supportive Development Guidebook" can inform the decision making process in the Kansas City region
Figure 1: How the use of MARC's "Principles of Transit-Supportive Development Guidebook" can inform the decision making process in the Kansas City region. The process is composed of understanding TSD principles (travel connections, public spaces, building scale and orientation, parking, and land use mix and intensiy); identifying development scenarios (town center redevelopment, suburban infill [redevelopment and new development], suburban greenfields, urban neighborhoods, and urban activity centers); identifying possible barriers to success (regulatory, institutional, market, and financial); and enabling change (develop TSD master plans, revise development policies and incentives, form partnerships, engage community, and develop financial plans). This process of education, understanding, knowledge, and empowerment will lead to smarter choices.
