Agency Experience using Activity-Based Models, Moving to Activity-Based Modeling in Houston

Date: Thursday, July 25, 2013
Time: 14:00
Location: Online

This webinar will present information on how a large MPO made its decision to move forward with an activity-based model and how that decision was implemented. The Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC), the MPO for the Houston region, in cooperation with METRO, the region's primary public transportation provider, decided that an activity-based approach was needed to provide information for some of the key planning decisions that need to be made in this rapidly growing region. The background on this decision will be presented, as well as information on the model currently under development. H-GAC staff and their consultants will discuss the resources needed and the challenges faced in the model development and implementation process and will provide advice to agencies considering whether such an approach is suitable for their regions.
