AADT from Non-Traditional Methods Pooled Fund Reports

FHWA led pooled fund TPF-5(384) TPF - Study Detail (pooledfund.org) researched using passive data to determine traffic volumes and the limitations of such uses. Please see the FHWA PF website or the 5 reports for further study details. The term of "passively collected data" means data are not collected through traditional roadway point based sensor detection. The five initial research results are presented here for your use in helping to guide further work in this area.

Report 1: StreetLight Data Inc. Task 2 results, “Non-Traditional Methods to Obtain Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT)”

Report 2: StreetLight Data Inc. Task 3 results, “Guidelines for Obtaining AADT Estimates from Non-Traditional Sources”

Report 3: Cambridge Systematics with Texas Transportation Institute (TTI), "Independent Evaluation of a Probe-Based Method to Estimate Annual Average Daily Traffic Volume"

Report 4: National Renewable Energy Laboratories (NREL), "Validation of Non-Traditional Approaches to Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) Volume Estimation"

Report 5: Battelle Memorial Institute, "Evaluating Two Different Traffic Data Methods Based on Data Observed"
