Obtaining Materials Inputs for Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Workshops

The workshop will help pavement design engineers and material engineers better understand materials testing and characterization as it has been incorporated into the new Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide software.

Second Rubber Modified Asphalt Conference
May 18–19, 2005, San Antonio, TX
The conference will highlight the uses of rubber-modified asphalt, facilitate discussion between industry and Government agencies, and increase knowledge about materials and specifications. The conference will also feature a trip to a local rubber-modified asphalt project. The event is sponsored by FHWA, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Rubber Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS), Rubber Manufacturers Association, Rubber Pavements Association, National Asphalt Pavement Association, National Center for Asphalt Technology, and the Asphalt Institute.

Seventh International Symposium on Utilization of High-Strength/High-Performance Concrete (HPC)
June 20-24, 2005, Washington, DC
The symposium will bring together engineers and material scientists from around the world to discuss topics ranging from the latest HPC applications to the most up-to-date research. An optional tour of the Woodrow Wilson Memorial Bridge Project will also be offered on June 24. The symposium is sponsored by the American Concrete Institute, with co-sponsors, including FHWA, representing more than 40 organizations from 14 countries.

Third International Symposium on Highway Geometric Design
June 26—July 2, 2005, Chicago, IL
The symposium will focus on the latest resources, policies, and practices for street and highway geometric design. Topics will range from intersection design to traffic calming to design for users with disabilities. Sponsors include the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, National Association of County Engineers, Transportation Research Board (TRB), FHWA, and the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Eighth International Conference on Concrete Pavements
