RSS FEED - HELP |

![]() |
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, and it is a Web tool that allows a user to keep up with updated news and information that is important to you, without having to browse or continually check back to your favorite Web sites for newly-posted information. Web content that is provided in RSS format is delivered directly to you soon after it is posted online. This content is called a "feed," and it is delivered to you in an RSS reader.
An RSS reader is a small application that collects and displays RSS feeds to which you subscribe. It notifies you of new content from all of your subscriptions, and displays it all for your review in one central location. Where can I get an RSS Reader?
Some browsers, such as the current versions of Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari have built in RSS readers. If you are using a browser that does not currently support RSS, there are a variety of RSS readers available on the internet, many of which are available at no cost to the user, and many do not require downloading software. Popular alternatives include Google Reader and My Yahoo.
Each reader has a slightly different way of adding a new feed. Follow the directions for your particular reader, but this is the general process:
Instructions on top browsers, email programs, or other devices that will enable you to access the What's New in Research at Federal Highway Administration RSS Feed are listed below. Next to the name of each is a link for instructions on how to subscribe to the FHWA research feed. For Web browser access, you simply click on the link and select your browser name. For all other devices, you most likely will need to copy and paste the following URL to add the subscription:
https://www.fhwa.dot.gov/publications/lists/tfhrcrss.xml.
The following mobile devices do not represent an exhaustive list of devices. Also, this is not an endorsement of any one of these devices. The devices and their corresponding RSS feed instructions are listed for the convenience of customers. Keep in mind, there are many applications ("apps"), which can enable you to receive RSS feeds on your mobile devices and you may search the Internet for those apps and instructions. Keywords to use for an Internet search would be the following: "Your mobile device name" and these words: "RSS feed reader."
