Asset Management of Traffic Signals

October 2, 2013, 1:00 PM (Eastern time)

With MAP-21 bringing performance and asset management to the forefront, agencies are continuing to seek new ways to manage the physical assets on their system. While historically, the primary focus has been on pavements and bridges, agencies are beginning to look at applying an asset management framework in managing their traffic signals. The resources needed to operate and maintain signals can be significant and the consequences of not doing so can also be significant. FHWA/AASHTO will be hosting a webinar on October 2, 2013 to highlight initiatives and best practices from state and local agencies in applying asset management principles to traffic signals. There will be presentations from the FHWA Resource Center, Utah DOT, Virginia DOT, and the City of Portland.
