Interstate Maintenance Discretionary (IMD) Program

IMD Program Information

The IMD program provides funding for resurfacing, restoration, rehabilitation and reconstruction (4R) on the Interstate System. Projects selected for funding under this program are funded at a 90 percent Federal share except projects for added lanes, other than high occupancy vehicle lanes and auxiliary lanes, which are funded at 80 percent.

The Interstate Maintenance Discretionary (IMD) program was discontinued by the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21), Public Law 112-141. The last IMD project solicitation was for FY 2012. Funding for previously awarded IMD projects is still available for allocation.
