Capacity Building/Training & Technical Assistance

FHWA is launching a variety of capacity building initiatives and events to assist public agencies in using Value Capture strategies to capturing a portion of the value generated by public infrastructure investment. These activities are being undertaken as part of the fifth cycle of the Every Day Counts (EDC) program.

Capacity building activities planned for 2019 include a webinar series, the publication of a value capture manual, five peer exchange events, a set of workshops, and a round table where practitioners will discuss opportunities, challenges and best practices.

Under the right conditions, Value Capture techniques can be powerful funding tools that can help public agencies bridge funding gaps and accelerate the implementation of needed projects. Value capture can be used in a wide range of settings to help fund transportation improvement projects, as well as operations and maintenance.
