Webcasts of Design Guide Workshops

FHWA has conducted a number of workshops in Connecticut and through cooperation with ConnDOT has webcast each of them over the World Wide Web. In addition to webcasting them live, they were recorded to have a permanent reference that individuals can view the workshops according to their own schedule. It is recommended that these webcasts be viewed using Internet Explorer 5.5 or better and Windows Media Player 9-series. For best viewing, after selecting any one of speakers from the agenda, click the button on the left side of the page labeled "Larger View Using Windows Media Player".

Introductory Design Guide Workshop

On August 26, 2004 FHWA's Design Guide Implementation Team (DGIT), in conjunction with the National Resource Center, conducted one of its introductory workshops on the Mechanistic-Empirical Guide for the Design of New and Rehabilitated Pavements which was developed under NCHRP 1-37A and was recently released for review. This workshop, which was held in Mystic, CT, was also broadcast by ConnDOT live over the internet with an estimated 200 people participating in the online webcast. ConnDOT has this webcast at http://www.ct.gov/dot/cwp/view.asp?a=1617&q=277542.

Obtaining Materials Inputs for M-E Design Workshop

This 2-day workshop presented for Materials Engineers, Pavement Design & Pavement Management Engineers, was webcast live on March 30-31, 2005 from Rocky Hill, CT. This interactive workshop covers the materials inputs required for conducting a mechanistic-empirical pavement design using the NCHRP 1-37A software. ConnDOT has posted this webcast at http://www.ct.gov/dot/cwp/view.asp?a=1617&Q=300236&PM=1.

Executive Summary for Mechanistic Empirical Design

This 30-minute presentation geared toward Chief Engineer/Executives audience was webcast live on September 7, 2005 from Rocky Hill, CT. This presentation discusses the benefits and needs for transitioning your State highway agency to adoption of mechanistic-empirical pavement design. ConnDOT has posted this webcast at http://wwwcf.fhwa.dot.gov/exit.cfm?link=mms://conndot-video.ct.gov/mediapoint/FHWA/john_dangelo.wmv.

Traffic Inputs for M-E Pavement Design Workshop

This one-day workshop was presented for pavement designers and traffic/operations engineers, was webcast live on September 18, 2006 from Rocky Hill, CT. This workshop covers traffic inputs required by the MEPDG software and how to extract the data using the NCHRP 1-39 TrafLoad software. ConnDOT has posted this webcast at http://www.ct.gov/dot/cwp/view.asp?a=1617&q=327664.

Climatic Considerations for M-E Pavement Design Workshop

This one-day workshop was presented for pavement designers and materials engineers over a live webcast on September 19, 2006. This workshop covers the Enhanced Integrated Climatic Model (EICM) that provides inputs to the MEPDG software. ConnDOT has posted this webcast at http://www.ct.gov/dot/cwp/view.asp?a=1617&q=327668.

Use of Pavement Management System Data to Calibrate M-E Pavement Design Workshop

This one-day workshop was webcast live on September 20, 2006 for pavement designers and pavement management engineers. This workshop covers the various ways that PMS data can be used as inputs to, and for calibration of, the MEPDG software. ConnDOT has posted this webcast at http://www.ct.gov/dot/cwp/view.asp?a=1617&q=327670.
