The peregrine falcon is an endangered species. By working with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and biologists at the College of William and Mary, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has been able to provide an improved environment for successful breeding of peregrines and enable VDOT to perform necessary construction and maintenance activities associated with the bridge structures.
