This regional automated traffic management system integrates freeway, arterial roadway, and transit systems. Techniques used include ramp metering to control traffic flow onto the freeways, dispatchers and incident response teams to minimize delays on freeways, and variable message signs to keep motorists informed. Future links are planned with regional light rail and commuter rail.
