FHWA’s Office of Transportation Workforce Development and Technology Deployment was officially established in November 2021. Known in the agency as “HIT”—for innovation and technology—our new organization combines the former Offices of Technical Services and Innovative Program Delivery. We began forging our partnership in the year leading up to the official reorganization, building on the synergies among our collective programs and missions. This enhanced collaboration allows us to better support agency and department priorities, meet the needs of the transportation community, and build the expertise of FHWA’s internal workforce.
HIT’s programs fall under two new offices:
The programs under these new offices cover a variety of program areas, including workforce development, innovation management and deployment, education, and collaboration. Operationalizing our new structure allowed us to maximize synergies across these focus areas.
