Roadside Hardware
NCHRP Report 350 Web SiteThe Federal Highway Administration requires all highway safety hardware used on the National Highway System (NHS) to meet the safety performance criteria defined in NCHRP Report 350. A new web site identifies and describes traffic barriers, bridge railings, end terminals, crash cushions, sign and pole supports, work zone traffic control devices, and miscellaneous roadside features meeting the Report 350 criteria. We Remember
April 19, 1999, was the fourth anniversary of the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Office Building in Oklahoma City. We honor those we lost and those who survived to carry on the work of the Agency.

Shoulder surface treatments, commonly referred to as "Rumble Strips" are effective in alerting drivers who are fatigued, inattentive or otherwise unaware that they are leaving the road.
