Overview

FHWA, in partnership with the Project for Public Spaces and Sevatec, is pleased to present a free webinar entitled “Using Performance-Based Practical Design to Improve Safety.” This webinar discusses how performance-based practical design can improve transportation safety at the system and project levels, which is important to improving quality of life in communities.

Grounded in evidence-based practices and before-and-after data analysis, practical-based design emphasizes context-sensitive solutions and safety results over narrow adherence to design values. The webinar describes a number of FHWA resources to help improve the safety performance of transportation projects, including the Crash Modification Factors Clearinghouse.
