PURPOSE
The Department of Transportation transmitted the Comprehensive Truck Size and Weight Study to Congress on August 31, 2000. The Study was initiated in 1994 by Secretary of Transportation Rodney E. Slater, who was then the Federal Highway Administrator. The Study is intended to provide decisionmakers with fact-based information regarding highly controversial and multifaceted truck size and weight issues.
