Our office develops, refines, and disseminates analytical tools and studies identifying current and emerging issues with national implications from a system-wide perspective or enterprise orientation. This document is intended to provide decision makers with an objective appraisal of the physical conditions, operational performance, and financing mechanisms of highways, bridges, and transit systems based on both their current state and their projected future state under a set of alternative future investment scenarios.
Transportation Typology Exploratory Tool (beta) is an interactive mapping tool that helps analysts capture and assess neighborhood level features such as population densities, transportation network characteristics and conditions, and sociodemographic data at the census tract level. The tool allows for meaningful national and regional comparisons that go beyond traditional typologies of urban vs rural transportation networks.
