Description: This TechBrief provides an overview of blended and performance cements for use in transportation infrastructure. The relatively new labeling for ASTM C595 blended cements, including ternary cements, is described. ASTM C1157 performance cements are also described with particular focus on portland-limestone cements and activated fly ash. An overall summary of the fresh and hardened properties of concrete made with blended and performance cements is also presented, along with a summary of current State practices.
