Basic Pavement Warranty Workshop

Intended Audience: The audience should include participants from the region that are working for the State highway agency, FHWA division, contractors, and bonding representatives.
Objective:Provide guidance on the use of pavement warranties and encourage the use of performance warranties. Include various considerations that should be addressed in all warranty programs, independent of the source of funding or routes. It is intended that the workshops will assist States in the development of specifications and associated programs related to the use of pavement warranties.
- Session 1:
This session provides a review of the background and the history of warranties (International/National/States) along with the types of warranties: Materials and Workmanship and Performance (Short-Term and Long-Term).
- Session 2:
This session discusses the components of warranty specifications, bonding, and the elements needed to get started with a warranty program (PMS Data, Warranted Elements, Warranty Sections)
- Session 3:
This session describes various pavement performance and warranty tolerances, quality control programs and the acceptance of the project versus the warranty.
- Session 4:
The last session provides time for discussing pavement warranty verification program and acceptance, and other issues that may need further clarification followed by a summary of the key aspects identified for a warranty program.
