Urbanized Areas Pavement Condition by Functional Class, 2000
Exhibit 3-20 is a bar graph that shows pavement conditions in urbanized areas by functional class in 2000. The vertical axis has five functional classes with five bars each. The horizontal axis measures percentages from 0 to 55 in increments of 5 percent. In the first group of bars, for urban interstates, 7.0 percent were rated poor, 22.9 percent were rated mediocre, 22.0 percent were rated fair, 36.1 percent were rated good, and 12.1 percent were rated very good. In the second group of bars, for other urban freeways and expressways, 3.1 percent were rated poor, 8.7 percent were rated mediocre, 50.3 percent were rated fair, 30.1 percent were rated good, and 7.8 percent were rated very good. In the third group of bars, for other urban principal arterials, 14.5 percent were rated poor, 17.8 percent were rated mediocre, 43.7 percent were rated fair, 18.1 percent were rated good, and 5.9 percent were rated very good. In the fourth group of bars, for urban minor arterials, 7.6 percent were rated poor, 14.1 percent were rated mediocre, 39.8 percent were rated fair, 16.5 percent were rated good, and 22.0 percent were rated very good. And in the fifth group of bars, for urban collectors, 7.1 percent were rated poor, 15.6 percent were rated mediocre, 44.8 percent were rated fair, 11.7 percent were rated good, and 20.9 percent were rated very good.
