Statewide Wildflower Program
South Carolina
Wildflowers are now the plant of preference along South Carolina's Interstate highways, thanks to this statewide program of vegetation management implemented by the South Carolina Department of Transportation. Sites for wildflower plantings are selected on the basis of traffic volume, visibility and geographic location. Most of the planting has occurred along Interstate highways, and around welcome centers and rest areas.
