ArrowVT - Greener, Safer, Better

The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) is rehabilitating US 4A and VT 30 in Rutland County. The innovative features of this project include the use of two types of Warm Mix Asphalt (foam and organic wax), Safety EdgeSM, a new longitudinal joint specification, and Intelligent Compaction. The workshop will focus on the challenges and benefits of using innovations to building projects faster, safer, at a higher quality and minimizing impacts to the users.

This showcase will include a half-day technical workshop followed by a site visit of the project.

Workshop Details:

This one-day workshop will begin on Wednesday, July 11th at 8:00am with check-in and registration opening at 7:30am. We will have a ½ day of technical session on the technologies and the project, followed by a visit to the active construction site.

A tentative Agenda will be available shortly.

Professional Development Hours will be available for this Showcase and will be issued by the University of Florida. NOTE: You will need to provide us with your P.E. License Number at registration to receive credit. You will only receive a Certificate of Attendance stating the number of hours earned. We do not report these hours to any Professional Board (unless you are in the State of Florida).

From the Burlington Area – travel Route 7 South; 68 miles. The Comfort Inn is on your left

From the Montpelier Area – Route 89 South to Route 107 West in Bethel Vermont to Route 100 near Pittsfield, to Route 4 West 10 miles to Rutland. Turn left on Route 7 South. Hotel is approximately one mile on your left.

New York Thruway to Exit 2 at Albany. Interstate 87 North to Exit 20, (Fort Ann/Rutland). Route 149 to Route 4 East. Route 4 East to Route 7 North. Turn left onto Route 7 North. The Hotel is located approximately 1 mile down on the right.

Follow 1-91 North to Vermont. Take exit #6 (Rockingham/Rutland) onto VT Route 103 North. Follow to Route 7 North. Hotel is approximately 3.3 miles on your right.

Follow Route 4 West through Woodstock, Vermont and Killington until you come to the junction of Routes 4 & Route in Rutland. Turn left on Route 7 South. Hotel is approximately one mile on your left.

Personal Protection Equipment:

Each participant will be required to provide their own Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) to be able to participate in the site visit. The following are required items:

  • Class II Safety Vest
  • Hard hat
  • Steel toe boots
  • Safety glasses

We also recommend that you bring sunscreen, earplugs, and a hat for your comfort.
