About
The Office of Technical Services provides technical assistance, training, and technology deployment to State and local transportation agencies, along with other transportation stakeholders, nationwide. Its five units – the Resource Center, the National Highway Institute, the Knowledge Management team, the Center for Accelerating Innovation, and the Center for Local Aid Support – collaborate with all FHWA units to serve the Agency’s external and internal customers. The Resource Center supports FHWA Headquarters and field offices through expert technical assistance, training, and technology transfer led by eight technical teams covering 12 functional areas. The National Highway Institute serves the national transportation community by providing training that addresses the full life cycle of the highway transportation program, including current and future transportation workers. The Knowledge Management team helps FHWA collaborate and share knowledge to support Agency priorities through the use of innovative technologies and collaborative learning methods and leads FHWA’s professional discipline support system. The Center for Accelerating Innovation fosters the accelerated adoption of innovations across the transportation community and leads programs such as Every Day Counts and the State Transportation Innovation Councils. The Center for Local Aid Support administers the Local Technical Assistance Program and provides national training and technical assistance networks to help local governments enhance roadway networks and create economic opportunity. The Finance and Business Operations unit provides financial management, administrative, and marketing coordination services to units across the office.
