SUBJECT: Acknowledgement of Cal trans LOI for Request of Delegated Authority to Caltrans for STIP Amendment Approvals under the SEP-16

Dear Ms. Berman:

This letter is to acknowledge receipt of your Letter of Interest (LOI) dated November 7, 2018 requesting the delegation of authority to Caltrans for the approval of Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) amendments under the Special Experimental Project Sixteen (SEP- 16) per Federal Register Notice dated September 20, 2018.

All LOIs under the SEP-16 are subject to review by a team of members involving the FHWA California Division and the FHWA Headquarters for an initial evaluation of the proposal. We anticipate we will complete our initial evaluation within 30 days of the date of this letter. After the initial evaluation is completed, a formal response will be provided, which will either request the submittal of a Concept Paper or provide an explanation for not advancing the proposal.
