Noise Barrier Acceptance Criteria

This page provides guidance and suggestions on analyze and evaluate feasibility and reasonableness factors when considering noise barriers as an abatement measure.

This report provides supplemental information on both tools colectively. The tools were developed to evaluate the effects of policy changes on the feasibility and reasonableness of noise abatement for the factors described in the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) noise regulation in Title 23 CFR Part 772 as implemented in the individual state highway agency (SHA) noise policies. These tools allow a user to evaluate different combinations of factors to determine the effects of policy changes.

Note: The tools are spreadsheets for States to consider different ways to consider their feasibility and reasonableness criteria. You must download these files for use in MS Excel.
