Description | Atlanta’s Crescent Avenue quickly transformed from a quiet street to a booming restaurant and entertainment district. However, increased foot traffic and deliveries deteriorated the landscape and damaged sidewalks. To improve the area, the city replaced cracked sidewalks including heavy-duty sidewalks in key areas; completed lighting and pavement repairs; designated truck delivery and taxi stand areas; installed Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant ramps; planted trees along the street; and added groundcover. Crews also improved parking and loading zones, and replaced ADA ramps, pavement, lighting, crosswalks, and striping. The project was completed by making improvements to sewers and adding a pocket park in the district. |
